Grassroot Women Development Organization (GWODEO)

"Nurturing you with love"

Welcome to Grassroot Women Development Organization (GWODEO). Founded in 1994, GWODEO is a national women-led nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, orphans & vulnerable children (OVCs), youth, and the elderly across all genders, creating happy, harmonious, and productive communities in Buikwe, Mayuge, Jinja, and Mukono Districts of Uganda.

Our History

No matter how expansive a building is, it’s a collection of many materials, and it all starts with a stone

Grassroot Women Development Organization was officially registered as an NGO in 1994 by Anne Mary Awori, seconded by Teddy Asubu, and other women from Mukono District, Uganda.

The purpose of founding the organization was to create a platform for orphaned and vulnerable children, youth, women, the elderly, and people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS to get help in addressing the prevalent and persistent challenges they face in life. In a world where they seem to be forgotten and the “Perfect people” are favored more for opportunities.

At the moment, GWODEO is lobbying for your support towards this good cause. Let’s unite, contribute financially, in kind, and in every way possible to help these vulnerable people, put a smile on their faces, and give them a reason to believe that there’s good in this life despite pre-existing limitations. This way, we are raising happy, harmonious, productive communities one donation at a time. Just like the sea, a giving hand will never run dry. You and I can do it, be our brother’s keeper!

Remember, no matter how expansive a building is, it’s a collection of many materials, and it all starts with a stone. We value your stone! Come on and join us, let’s make life better!
